February 2009
Welcome to 2009 from the Team at Corporate Commandos®. As we all are aware the year has begun quite volatile for most Australian’s. It has also shown what we can do when we pull together as a Team to help our fellow man in these times of disaster, here in bush fire ravaged Victoria and also our Northern counterparts in New South Wales and Queensland who are currently under flood. So please continue to give generously to the Red Cross.
“Corporate Commandos® Challenge” Again the “Corporate Commandos® Challenge” is proving to be a great product. Below you will see a testimonial from The Bendigo & Adelaide Banks. Ray Buxton, the Head of their Business Finance has described very nicely what the product is all about. Not only is the “Corporate Commandos® Challenge” what clients are looking for in a team building & leadership product, it is also a great product for the venues we currently use as it provides the benefit of keeping the clients on site. So give us a call & we will send you an information package to help with your teamwork & leadership development.
TEAM OF THE MONTH

Why Corporate Commandos?
The Business Banking division of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Limited held a National Conference at The Forest Resort, Creswick on 26 -28 November. As a breakout session for the conference John Spencer was asked to address the delegates on the basics of leadership, which then led to the Corporate Commandos Challenge, conducted on the grounds of the resort. A total of 15 teams of 10 participated in the challenge.
The challenge entailed both physical and mental activities to develop the participants’ teamwork and leadership skills. The teams found that the activities emphasized several key points that they could learn and take away from the day and use in their workplace. These included: -
- Understanding the different types of leadership found in the workplace
- The importance of knowing your team and the dynamics of how they interact
- The importance of delegation
- Being able to listen to, and trust your team
- Having the ability to be flexible in changing circumstances
The activities worked well by stimulating participants to think laterally about the problem that they were faced with. Each one required slightly different strategies for the level of teamwork, planning and execution required, to simulate the different types of problems and challenges that the participants will be faced in their workplace. The activities were very well designed to get everyone involved, and allowed everyone a chance to lead the team and be responsible for the outcome of the challenge.
John and his team were very professional and easy to work with. The challenge was a great success, with all participants finding it to be a fun and worthwhile experience.
